JOHN KILROY FINE ART ACADEMY presents

DESIGNING A GREAT LANDSCAPE PAINTING WORKSHOP

May 1 & 2, 2010

Saturday 10:00-5:00

Sunday 12:00-5:00

Fee: $185.00

How many times have you looked at a landscape painting and thought, nice color,
not a nice design. What constitutes GOOD DESIGN..........

Picture making is a lost art and its value is scarcely understood today.
This workshop is designed to give the artist greater content and personal meaning
to their work. Students will be making a notebook of design principles, procedures and class notes integrated with practical experience in this workshop.

Examples of the topics covered will be:

Fundamental design issues

The essential and the significant

Picture development: The Main Idea, The Pattern, Dominant Shape, Focal Points

Planning and improvisation

The picture border and beyond

Diagnosing problems

Workshop format

Saturday: Studying the principles that constitute great design. We will start with analyzing designs, deconstructing them, and familiarizing ourselves with the ideas, intentions and functions of each design and composition.

Sunday: Practical experience working with design for your own work.

This is years of complied information not readily available anywhere. John Kilroy founded a school in which the primary goal is to re-introduce solid fundamental art training based on universal creative, perceptual and design principles.
